Pratt in Venice Launches New Video Series

The Pratt in Venice team has worked over the summer to create a new series of videos that share the experience of the Pratt in Venice program. Missing Venice, we decided to reflect on our experiences with alumni, friends, colleagues, and students interested in the future Pratt in Venice summers.

Faculty and staff narrate the initial five videos that refer to activities of the program and the experience of creative activity and research in Venice. We shall launch these individually at first, beginning with Prof. Michael Brennan's experience of the city, the program, and how Pratt in Venice affects his teaching and his painting. Further videos narrated by me, Joe Kopta, Fay Ku, and Christian Harding will follow, offering further perspectives on material and civic culture, art history, visual identity building, printmaking, and sustainable building…and the joy of being in the Serenissima.

In the series debut, Professor of Painting Michael Brennan muses on missing Venice this summer, how the history of Venetian painting has informed his teaching and practice, and reflects on how he has kept Venice alive at home in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
